From the time Larry was a teen-aged evangelist there were prophecies over his life saying he would preach to thousands. Believing that every true prophesy would be fulfilled by God and in His time, these various words set on a shelf for decades.
From time to time, God opened the doors for significant ministry. In the early 1990s, Larry spoke to large conventions in India, including the great Kumbanad Convention, one of the largest gathering of believers on earth. In Brazil he preached to 10,000 and saw 1,000 respond to the altar call.

In 2001, at Brownsville Assembly of God, Cindy Jacobs prophesied over Larry that he would preach to stadiums and millions of dollars would flow through his hands. Already nearly fifty years of age, this seemed like hardly more than a dream to Larry. Perhaps the season had passed.

Larry went to Ethiopia for the first time in 2010. He spoke at a small Bible College and at several churches. He was blessed to work with Per Akvist, a veteran missionary from Sweden. Per had worked as an evangelist in the former Soviet Union and was now serving in Ethiopia, leading the Joshua Campaign and hosting large soul-winning crusades. Larry fell in love with the beautiful people of Ethiopia.
When Larry returned to Ethiopia in 2011 to teach and preach, Per invited him to join Evangelist Daniel King for a Gospel Festival in Wando Ganet. Daniel is a young campaign evangelist from Tulsa. Larry gladly took a secondary role, speaking in the morning sessions and sharing a testimony in an evening service. This was his first experience at real crusade evangelism and he was overwhelmed. On that platform in front of thousands he felt like he had stepped into his calling.

Larry knew this was what God had always wanted him to do. He spoke to Daniel and Per and set up a Harvest Revival Crusade for the 2012. This took a huge leap of faith. Larry had to raise $20,000 for the crusade. Preaching mostly in small churches this was an incredible step into the miraculous.
But, God provided.
In March 2012, the first crusade was held in Medakeng. It was amazing. This was the largest and most successful crusade yet. The Joshua Campaign gives a follow-up booklet to every person who confesses to receive Christ and we gave out more than 40,000 booklets. In fact, the team ran out of the books on Saturday night before the biggest day of the meeting. Only Heaven knows how many received Christ. As many as 85,000 had gathered on the field. There were marvelous miracles. Larry was definitely bitten by the crusade bug. He knew he would have to return.

Larry's life-long friend, Pastor David Dillon and his daughter Dalayna joined him in Medakeng and were the first crusade team members. Larry still deeply appreciates the faith they had in the launch of this new season.
Larry did return in 2013 to the town of Bonga. For all the coffee drinkers, the caffeinated brew was first roasted and drank in Bonga. It was also a place where thousands drank from the wells of living water. As many as 13,000 answered the call for salvation in Bonga. Larry had an excellent team of co-workers from around the world and God blessed mightily. In Bonga the team saw one of the greatest miracles ever witnessed in decades of ministry. A bed-fast man carried to the meeting on a home-made stretcher was healed and walked across the stage to give his testimony. God's approval was definitely on this new phase of ministry.

Later in 2013, Larry's wife, Tajuana Jo, was diagnosed with brain cancer. He spent the rest of that year and most of 2014 patiently caring for his companion and praying for her healing. The Lord had another plan and he took T.J. to be with him in October 2014. Larry was down, but not out. He refused to give in to the disappointment and grief. This difficult season would not pull him backwards. Larry knew only one thing to do--the same thing he had been doing for fifty years--preach the gospel! He began praying, planning and raising the funds for the next Harvest Revival Crusade.
January 2016 found Larry and his team back in Ethiopia. The trip over was the most challenging yet, interrupted by an emergency landing and an eight-hour layover in Greece. The Harvest Revival Crusade was held in Shone. Once again, God moved mightily. About 5,000 souls came to Jesus for the very first time. There were many miracles on the field. You almost have to see it to believe it. It is incredible what God does in these mass-evangelism crusades.

The importance of the team that accompanies Larry cannot be overestimated. Team members share preaching responsibilities in the morning sessions, intercede for the meetings, help with dramas and just generally support the crusade. Of course, we could not do what we do without Per Akvist and the faithful Ethiopian team.
Larry came back from Ethiopia in 2016 suffering from daily debilitating headaches. A former classmate in Comanche, Oklahoma schools, Lynda Morehead Goetz began praying for Larry everyday. Lynda had been widowed only a month after Larry's wife passed. Lynda's prayers for healing led to a Facebook relationship, a courtship and wedding on July 3, 2016. When she pledged her life and love to Larry, Lynda not only got a marriage, she got a ministry and a seat on the plane headed to places she never dreamed. No one could be more fitted for the call. Lynda became not only a team member, but a partner in the crusade ministry. She, too, found her niche.

In 2017, Larry and Lynda led a team to Gesuba, Ethiopia for our Harvest Revival. What a harvest! 7,000 first-time converts made a decision for Christ. This was Lynda's first crusade and the kids fell in love with her. Once again, they witnessed some incredible things on the field--things that only God could do. One little girl had a large open sore on her leg. God healed her leg and the sore dried up. Of course, God gets all the glory. He is the one who does it.
Despite the great success in Gesuba, 2017 became the year the Martin's faith would be challenged. Early in the fall, they had not raised even twenty percent of their budget. Over the years the cost of a crusade had risen to $25,000 and the couple weren't even at $5,000. Only a few months left to raise the necessary funds. It looked like the money would not come. Lynda and Larry made it a matter of earnest prayer. Larry was determined to keep his commitment to the crusade, even if he had to borrow the money and pay it back. It was a troubling time, but the couple gave the matter to God. Larry told the Lord, he had made a promise and he would go in 2018 but unless God provided the resources, this would be the last crusade. Larry attended a service in Houston where a special missionary offering was received. He felt led by God to give a sacrificial offering out of his need. How can one explain it? It defies explanation, but the money began to come--unexpected offerings, surprises. It was incredible. When the time came to pay for the crusade, the Martins had the $25,000 and $1,000 left over as seed for the 2019 budget. It had to be God and they knew it.
The test of faith, however, did not end when the money was raised. When the Martins reached Ethiopia there was civil unrest in the area of the campaign. They were supposed to head to LemLem the next morning. Everything was ready but the team couldn't get there. Protestors had blocked the only road into the area. Cars had been overturned. There was violence. It looked like the team would be unable to reach the crusade field. Larry sent out an urgent prayer request on Facebook and thousands of people began to pray. The team missed the first day of the meeting, but the town was ready! Thousands had already gathered. in the remaining four days, 6,207 people came to Jesus for the first time. Praise God! Again there were many mighty miracles. Every healing, every miracle is great in its own way, but some thing just take your breath away. One young boy in our prayer tent had been comatose, almost paralized, for three days. He had not moved a muscle. He was so weak and his breathing so shallow that a team member thought he died while he was praying for him. Thanks be to God the boy was completely healed and stood on the crusade stage and testified of God's goodness.

After the great crusade in LemLem, Larry and Lynda felt God was calling them to lengthen their cords and strengthen their stakes for a greater ministry. By faith, and faith alone, they committed to two crusades in 2019--one in Ethiopia and one in Brazil. The Martins would have to raise $50,000 above their regular ministry budget. An individual would have to look at the annual receipts of the ministry to know what a massive step forward that was, but the Lord provided.
In January, the Martins took a team back to Ethiopia to the town of Bako. Once again God showed himself powerful. 2,048 were converted. As many as 40,000 were on the crusade field. There were many healings and miracles. Neither Bako nor the team will ever be the same.

The Martins hosted their first campaign in Brazil late in the fall of 2019. It was awsome. We ministered in schools, homes and at the campaign in Santa Innes, Brazil. It was wonderful working with Rubens Cunha and his team. Thousands were saved.

January 2020 saw the Martins back in Ethiopia for a great Harvest Revival Crusade at the town of Gedo. Once again the results were phenomenal.

Then came COVID. Everything shut down for over a year. In 2021, the Martins were excited to restart the crusade minsitry with campaigns in Pakistan (October) and Ethiopia (December).
Recently the Martins have conducted more campaigns in Brazil, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. You can see reports on all the campaigns by viewing Doc's Blog.
The crusade ministry is not easy. The teams log long hours on a plane only to be followed by more hours in a bus on bumpy, dusty African rural roads. At the end of the road there is often a dirty room with a bad bed, or even no bed. The Martins do not do it because it is easy. They do because they are called and they will continue as long as God provides. They are so thankful for the workers that join them from the United States, the fabulous teams they work with around the world, the donors that make it all possible and most of all to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The adventure continues.
